Met my dad while waiting 4 e lift when i came back frm e fieldtrip for my urban planning module juz nw. He passed me a letter n asked if tis is e one i've been waiting for. Coz i was expecting a reply frm xn so been asking my parents almost everyday if there's any mail 4 me.. We decided 2 go back 2 e most conventional mthd of writing letters coz both of us prefer 2 receive letters den emails. Partly coz i'm lazy 2 check mails.. only e sch mailbox i'll try 2 check it daily.. But i gt tis prob of procrastinating too much so i always take damn long 2 reply, or 2 post my letter.. So by e time she receives my letter, is always not e updated one. She might haf already knew abt e things tat i wanted 2 tell her. The feeling of receiving mails is great!! (except for those bills n sch fees etc) It adds an element of surprise as well as more sincerity too. Though my handwriting is v messy smtimes, its still legible.. Hahaha..
So anyway, i was saying e letter which i was anticipating is not frm xn. Turns out 2 b frm Nicole, a student whom i gif tuition a few yrs ago, during e times b4 i went back 2 ny 2 retake my a-levels. I decided 2 quit tutoring partly coz i wanna conc on my studies n oso bcoz of e lack in confidence. Lack in self-confidence coz i feel tat i'm not doing well in my studies n thus not qualified 2 tutor other pple. Though these kids r pri sch level only, i juz cant cross my own barriers. Tutoring can earn gd $ but e responsibility is heavy too, coz if they r not performing well is v diff 2 ans to their parents. I'm very anxious 4 my students during their exam period, is like i'm oso e one taking e exam. Haf a lot of fun tutoring experiences and generally i tink boys r more cheeky n naughty. Aft which, i switched 2 taking up part-time jobs rather den giving tuition during e holis , though tat will command a much lower pay in comparison.
The only student tat is still keeping in contact wif me is nicole.. She is e youngest amongst all e students i've tutored. Or rather i shld say i'm really surprised tat she is still taking effort in calling/writing 2 me every once in a long while, aft tis few yrs wif me being v laid back n slow in replying. Nicole n her mum is v nice 2 me. Her mum used to prepare n buy a lot of food on e days i haf tuition wif Nicole. Aft an hr of lesson wif nicole, her mum will knock e door n come in wif those yummy food n call us 2 take a break. U say lah, arent i lucky.. Most kiasu parents will hope tat u teach their precious kid for e full duration or even hope tat u'll extend e hrs free. But her mummy ask me 2 TAKE A BREAK n try e food she haf prepared leh! Initially i tot is juz 4 e 1st lesson. But i was wrg, it was almost every lesson!! So during tis "tea break" session wif only nicole n me in her room, tats e time for her 2 hao lian wat she haf. She'll described hw e guy tat she has a crush on looked like n etc, showed me all her new clothes, toys, vcds etc.. Quite a spoilt-brat coz only child mah. But she is damn lucky coz her parents will try 2 fulfil all e material comfort tat they can provide.. I haf 2 admit i'm really jealous n envy her 4 being in such a rich family. And i like 2 play her toys lor(yesh, i'm really fascinated coz nv c b4..), her dad will always buy her sthg when he return frm his biz trip. Haha n i tink i influenece her 2 liking f4 too. Last time i'm a bit crazy over jerry yen( nw i tink is q stupid n waste of $ in buying those mag featuring him), nicole noes abt it so everytime if she bought their vcd etc will lend me. And she even tell her mum i like jerry?! So embarrassing.. Thus aft i told her my decision 2 quit tutoring so tat i can conc on my a-levels, her mum spoke 2 me a few times hoping tat i'll changed my mind coz nicole was getting along q well wif me.
Initially aft i stop giving her tuition, we still call each other n exchange letters q often.. But most of e time i'm really slow in replying mails.. So tis carry on for a few mths, till writing 2 each other almost every half a yr.. B4 tis letter, the last one i received frm her is last yr. She wrote 2 ask if i'm still well n etc.. Wrote me a few poems too.. though is v kiddish n quite amusing, it warms my heart coz is frm some1 whom i tutored yrs ago when she is in pri 2. Didnt expect her 2 still rem me n being so thoughtful, ask me 2 drink more water. She still rem i haf sorethroat quite often back den.. Hahaha..
Oh the funniest part is she end e letter by asking me 2 questions. 1) R u 28 already? 2) R u married???? My gdness..... Hw come she get e idea tat i'm 28 when i stop tutoring her i'm only ard 19??? Time pass v fast, but oso not tat fast rite.. Unless i look like i'm 24++ back den.. And hw come she ask if i'm married?? Oh gosh, do i look like i'm at e marriageable age?? I muz asked her when i reply her letter...... tis is disturbing manz..
So nice of that student of urs to send u letter.. it is kind of sweet to have receive a primary school student's letter.. must have warmth ur heart alot. I still can remember those times when i was in primary sch, i also write to my frens and those words in the letter like very stupid also, often say some touching words one.. but i guess u will definitely fell very warmth at heart when u read a pri sch student letter now.. How i wish got primary sch student send letter to me..
